Mothering slowly in a world that rushes everything.

From Mothering Slowly on Substack

My work blends personal essay with a coach’s lens: honest about what’s hard, and grounded in what helps.

About:

I’m a writer, ICF-certified life coach, and stay-at-home mother on the East Coast of Canada. Before motherhood, I spent more than ten years in corporate sales and built a bridal and pajama brand on the side. I’ve always been multi-passionate, always building something. Then I became a mother, and almost overnight, everything I thought I knew about ambition, identity, and time began to shift.

I left the corporate climb to stay home with my daughter. Eighteen months in, I came across the word matrescence for the first time, and it changed everything. It finally gave language to what I’d been living.

Now I write Mothering Slowly, a Substack about the quiet work of becoming a mother in a world that rushes everything. I write about the messy middle in real time: the expectations I’ve had to release, the plans that didn’t go to plan, and what I’m learning along the way. My hope is simple: that no woman feels quite so alone in it.

I’m more ambitious than I’ve ever been. I just have smaller pockets of time. So I’m learning to build something slower and more sustainable, including my first middle-grade novel, which I’m aiming to publish in spring 2027.

What I write about:

“Your words have been a balm to my soul… Thank you for so beautifully putting into words the feelings I have been having lately.”

— Michaela, Mothering Slowly reader & supporter
